About VetSci

VetSci is a fairly easy to read science blog, focusing on veterinary, medicine and biological aspects of science. In our current age, more and more people are turning to the web to get access to information. This is an amazing thing, as it means the wealth of human knowledge combined can now quickly and easily be shared in just a few clicks! When it comes to science, it can sometimes be difficult to find the exact information you are looking for on the internet, which is why VetSci was set up. Compiling information only from trusted sources has allowed us to build up a decent repertoire of articles written in a style that is hopefully both easy to read and informative.

Whilst the content within the site is free to use, all that is asked is if you do use an article, that you consider sharing amongst your online community via facebook or twitter. This helps to expand our user base and allows the site to grow! More visitors will inevitably lead to more articles being published and maybe even allow someone to consider the ‘Become an Author’ or ‘Submit a Contribution’ options we have.

Tips & Tricks:

Efficient Searching:

  • The best way to find content on this site is to use the search box in the header, this will take you to all posts relevant to your query. If you are looking for something in particular within a post, you can always try Ctrl-F (Cmd-F) which will bring up the ‘Find’ bar in your browser, by typing your search term in that box, the browser will quickly highlight the relevant terms on the page.

Send to Evernote:

  • Evernote is great for storing little bits of information, but it is also great for saving articles from VetSci too! Get Evernote for your mobile device and sync saved articles from your Mac/PC to your mobile device. Then you have all the articles you need offline too.

Follow @Vet_Sci on Twitter:

  • Mailing lists can be great, but often you don’t want masses of emails clogging up your inbox. Twitter’s short updates are great for letting users know when a new article is out. Follow @Vet_Sci on twitter and get updates whenever a new article is published.

Mobile VetSci.co.uk:

  • VetSci looks great on mobile devices too, thanks to WP-touch. Try it out! If you don’t like it or need the functionality of the full site, simply hit the ‘switch to classic’ switch at the bottom of the screen to get back to the full site.

Bookmark!:

  • If you are a regular visitor, why not bookmark? Hit Ctrl-D (Cmd-D) to make a bookmark in your browser.

Send to Dropbox:

  • Dropbox is a great way to share documents, videos, pictures and more amongst all your devices. Be that a phone, or a PC and is easy to set up. Why not save an article and store it in your dropbox? You then have access to read it on the go on your mobile and it is always with you.
  • To sign up to use Dropbox, follow this link to expand your free 2GB by 250MB

Subscribe to RSS:

  • Clicking on the RSS icon in the top right hand corner of the home page (glows orange when hovered over) will take you to a page which looks very confusing if you don’t know what you’re looking at. This is an RSS feed, by itself, not very useful – however if you get an RSS reader, such as ‘Google Reader’ you can have new posts immediately sent to your reader and then read the articles at your pleasure, its great! Try it now!
